The Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) is part of a national infrastructure set up to provide a meaningful intelligence map of Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) across the UK. Its role is to provide an informed map of cross-border criminality to feed through to the four police forces of Yorkshire and the Humber to effectively tackle Serious and Organised Crime.
The Regional Asset Recovery Team is made up of experts from Police forces, HM Revenue & Customs, HM Court Services Enforcement Team and the Crown Prosecution Services, who use their specialist skills together with the powerful tool of POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act 2002), to strip proven criminals of their assets gained through criminal activity.
The Regional Roads Policing Team is the first operational team created by joint working between for the four police forces of Yorkshire and the Humber. Operating as a roads crime unit, the team was set up with a clear strategic focus to create a hostile environment for criminals that use the road network and cause significant disruption to their illegal business enterprises.
Operation REGAIN aims to provide the ready ability of the police services of Yorkshire and the Humber to respond effectively together, in fast time, to operational challenges in all the protective services areas thereby complementing the Police National Mobilisation Plan.
